A wallflower no one wants...

Lady Hannah is a friend to everyone and would be the perfect bride, if only she wasn't such a hoyden. Perhaps that is why no man has made an offer of marriage...

Not that it matters. The life of a country spinster will do quite nicely.

That is, until she's approached by the Earl of Brightstone to assist him in becoming more appealing in his search for a wife. She readily agrees. After all, they would never suit.

Not when he follows the rules, and she breaks them.
Not when he overthinks everything, and she's so very impulsive.
Not when he's looking to marry, and she knows she'll never receive a proposal.

But hearts have a way of defying even the most pedantic minds, and opposites often create the brightest sparks...

The Earl’s Hoyden is book one in the Wedding A Wallflower series by Madeline Martin. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Lucien and Hannah’s story has a few twists and turns that I didn’t expect. The characters are well developed and Martin does a fantastic job of peeling back their layers. I feel like the characters are very well developed. The hero Lucien is so shy that he comes across socially awkward but in an endearing way. Hannah is a spontaneous spitfire who is constantly getting herself into jams –  altogether a wonderful mesh of differences. There are a few very steamy scenes. “…neither of them were looking at the stars anymore. They were both fixed on one another as if there were no sky overhead or ground at their feet. As if the ball behind them did not exist, and neither did any excuse not to touch her. Kiss her.” Bravo! I am looking forward to reading more books with these characters and Hannah’s friends. I had a difficult time putting this book down.
