Outlaw King is the story of Robert the Bruce’s fight to save Scotland from the English King Edward. This is book number one in the Renegade Scots series. Though this tale has truth woven into it, it is a work of fiction. But Johnstone is a master with the pen and she literally transports her readers back in time. Her settings are descriptive and feel authentic. Her characters are relatable and at times vulnerable. I loved every heart stopping minute of it. Elizabeth and Robert’s characters sprang to life and held my attention. A fantastic tale of page turning romance, murderous intrigue and betrayal. I can’t wait to read the next in the series – Renegade Scot.
