I truly enjoyed His Rags to Riches Contessa by Marguerite Kaye. It is a very unique story. I am a big Regency Era romance fan, so most of the stories I read are set in England. But this story is so pleasantly different. It is set during the Regency Era; however, it takes place in Venice, Italy during Carnival. Carnival is a celebration that started back in the 15th century. I have never read a romance set in Venice before and I really loved it. Kaye creates a wonderful story of intrigue and mystique by using Carnival as her backdrop. Luca del Pietro is desperate to avenge the murder of his father so he hires Becky Wickes, a performer to assist him with his dark plan. The story is filled with romance and emotional upheaval as Becky tries to reconcile growing feelings for Pietro and the job she must perform. The story has some unexpected twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages late into the night. I was given a copy of this book.
