Being the second son of a Viscount comes with the knowledge that no matter what he achieves; Freddie Rosemount won't be the first member of his family to have done it. With good looks, wealth and his father's townhouse at his disposal, Freddie decides it is time to head to London and create a few firsts of his own.

Caught up in the endless whirl of elegant parties and political games, Freddie soon falls in with the wrong crowd. The Bachelor Board is a club for young men who wish to leave their mark on London society. Entry can only be secured by meeting a series of secret challenges, each more scandalous than the last.

Eve Saunders is a well-bred daughter of the House of Strathmore, but beneath her English skin beats a passionate French heart. The lust for danger runs in her family's blood. As Eve helps Freddie to secure his position on the Board, passion, and love ignite between them.

But the final, secret challenge for Freddie to secure his seat on the Bachelor Board comes with a shocking price.

When his furious father cuts off his money, Freddie's life quickly spirals downward. He soon comes to see the terrible truth of what he has done to the girl he loves.

Determined to do whatever it takes to win Eve back, Freddie is dismayed to discover that Eve is not sitting at home crying over him. When Eve begins to play her own series of sexy and dangerous games, Freddie is left with no other option but to take Eve on at her own game.
Only at the very last challenge, does Freddie see what he is risking and that Eve is playing for keeps.

Sasha Cottman writes Regency romance with strong heroines and courageous heroes.

“The Lord of Mischief” is book number six in The Duke of Strathmore Series. It is a complex story of the high cost of selfish ambition and greed. Freddie Rosemount, second son of Viscount Rosemount, is on a mission to join an elite secret club in London called the Bachelor’s Board. All he must do to join is complete some outrageous tasks. But those tasks are meant to discover what sort of man Freddie has become in this very dangerous game. Evelyn Saunders is drawn to the daring dark haired man. Freddie pushes the boundaries of polite society and Eve finds herself falling in love with the outrageous man. This story is unique in the regency genre. In most of the books that I have read, the hero is a rake hell and the heroine is an innocent wallflower. But in The Lord of Mischief, Freddie and Eve are both rebellious souls who thrive on the adrenaline of pushing boundaries. They are mirrors of each other. In fact, Eve strives to assist Freddie to achieve the Bachelor Board challenges. But when Freddie must complete a final task that threatens to destroy his relationship with Eve, will he choose the Bachelor Board or will he choose Eve?

As in any series, it is so much richer for the reader to begin with the first book. But I noticed that other readers remarked that this book could be read as a stand alone. There are some well written steamy scenes. Overall,  this is an incredible series. I highly recommend it. I was given a copy of this book.
