Madeline Martin is an author that I follow quite closely. Anytime, she publishes a book. I am on it like a duck on a June bug. I recently was given a copy of Her Highland Beast to read. It is a combination of Beauty and the Beast and The Princess and the Pea fairy tales. I normally don’t read Fantasy as a genre, but when Martin publishes a story I grab it regardless of the genre. I enjoyed this story. Duncan Maclean is cursed by a witch who likens his life to the leaves on a rowan tree near his castle. As each leaf falls, it marks his life slipping away. Only a special woman can break the curse. Enter Evina MacGregor – a young woman who is a trained warrior. Can Evina break the curse? Will Duncan be saved? There is some steam in this story.
