Determined to finally settle down near his brother in Texas Spencer signs on as a chief scout for the wagon train but his duties often lead him far afield leaving Chad to get into so many scrapes they could both well be dismissed. Will a devastating accident leave Spencer empty and alone forever or will he not only learn to trust God but also give Daliah his heart?

Daliah A Needful Bride is book one in the Brides of Needful Texas series by Danni Roan. I enjoyed the beginning of the book. The pace was good, and I instantly liked the heroine Daliah Owens. However, the pace began to slow with the journey to Texas. I kept waiting for a villain to appear – anything to build the tension of the story. And though a villain does appear, it’s not until the end of the book. I also longed for more descriptive passages – of setting and of the individual characters. I did enjoy seeing the hero Spencer Gaines change from harsh to kind. Overall it is a good story with some weaknesses.  I won a copy of this book.
