A Good Day To Marry A Duke is book one in the Sins and Sensibility series by Bettina Krahn. I think this is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. Krahn spins a complex tale of an American heiress Daisy Bumgarten looking for a titled lord in 1888 England. This is during the era of the phenomenon of the “Dollar Princesses” – wealthy American women marrying into the aristocracy. The author weaves historical figures throughout the story: Charles Worth the English fashion designer and American royalty Mrs. John Jacob Astor. The characters are unique and some are very funny. Daisy is uncouth, spontaneous and beautiful, but her past has tainted possibilities for her future. Can she find a titled lord to love? I highly recommend this book.
