A kilt for Christmas . . .

Lady Rowena Pepperwirth is beautiful, wealthy, and can have any many she wants. Only, no man has ever caused her heart to flutter—until the holiday house party she agreed to attend at the last minute. One look at the brooding Lord Forres and Rowena knows exactly what she wants for Christmas: the dashing Scottish lord.
Quinn MacCauley needs a wife for several reasons. When he meets the lovely Lady Rowena, he knows she’ll be a good mother to his daughter and a capable mistress for his home. He’ll even overlook her tempting beauty—because there’s no way he will ever risk his heart again.
But he never counted on Rowena’s determination to give him the greatest gift of all: a chance at true love.

A Scottish Lord for Christmas is book three in the Sins and Scandals Series by Lauren Smith. Ms. Smith is one of my favorite “go to” authors for historical romance, and she is prolific. A Scottish Lord for Christmas is a marriage of convenience romance. I appreciated this book. In some ways it reminded me a little bit of the book Rebecca but without the menacing Mrs. Danvers. A widower who is in love with his deceased wife remarries. The new young wife struggles to find her place in his heart. There is only one villain in this story and it is the hero’s mistaken belief that he can never love again. Smith is a master of writing steamy scenes and there are plenty in this story. I especially relished the heroine Rowena and her sweet nature. My only qualm is with the cover art. Overall the picture is beautiful with vibrant rich colors. But the male model on the front looks like a modern man instead of a 1900s Scottish lord. Other than that, this was a delightful book.
