Tempted by the damsel in distress!
Captain James Warriner is startled to find a curvaceous beauty caught up a tree in his orchard! Despite his shattered leg, he rescues Miss Cassandra Reeves, then is determined to have nothing more to do with the enticing vicar's daughter.
Except when Cassie seeks Jamie out to apologize, they find themselves persuaded to work together on her storybook. Secret liaisons with the dashing soldier make Cassie wish Jamie would rescue her once more…by making her his wife!
A Warriner to Rescue Her is book two in the Wild Warriner’s series by Virginia Heath. Heath has become one of my favorite authors. In this story, Captain James Warriner is a man tortured by his past. Suffering from physical and mental injuries he sustained in the Napoleonic War, he lives his life as a desperate man – fighting against his limitations. When he attempts to rescue Miss Cassandra Reeves from a tree, only to have her fall on top of him, he believes he has met his perfect match. But both people suffer their own private hells that keep them isolated from others. Could they ever be together? Can they move past their own self-judgment to love each other?
I have to say that I truly loved this book. Heath builds an impressive complexity in her characters and slowly builds the heat of romance between them. This is the second book in the Wild Warriners series, and I can’t wait to read the rest. I highly recommend this book.
