Mason Bridges was certain about what he wanted from life, about the man he wanted to be. Running the family’s construction business was the center of it all. Until he comes across an intriguing woman who challenges him at every turn and causes him to rethink his outlook on life. Ari’s more than just complicated, though.

Ari Mendez has a painful past and a volatile present. She’s flying by the seat of her pants when she meets focused and responsible Mason. Her chaotic life puts her plans for the future in a holding pattern but the one thing she’s certain about is that Mason is everything she never knew she wanted.

Mason will have to leave the confines of his carefully structured life in order to show Ari he’s the man for her. But their differences and Ari’s ties to her ex threaten their chance to be together.

Bridges Brothers series follows four brothers as they attempt to navigate life and love after a tragic family loss. Each book can be read as a standalone but is more enjoyable read in order.

Broken Bridges is book two in the Bridges Brothers series by Lia Fairchild. I enjoyed the first book in this series. But this second book, I found a bit disturbing. Although it is well written, I didn’t feel comfortable with certain elements of the romantic relationship. Mason Bridges is the oldest sibling in the Bridges family and a businessman. At thirty-three, he manages a thriving construction company. Ari Mendez is a young homeless woman “squatting” in a building that Mason’s company is renovating. I found the attraction between the two characters to be unbelievable. I didn’t like the heroine. Ari is too young and immature.

She is smart-mouthed, abrasive and not likable. The hero Mason comes across as a desperate “teenager” instead of the man that he should be at thirty-three. Overall, I wasn’t sold on their “love” story. I was given a copy of the book.
