They were both scheming to get out of the marriage before the date was even set.
In the rugged Highlands, a proud warrior is about to fall. Highlander Brus MacLeod doesn’t want the betrothal forced upon him, and he certainly does not intend to take the woman as his wife, no matter who commands it. He has every intention of driving the unexpectedly feisty lass to break the marriage contract and has no plans to let her into his head, bed, or heart.
But then the funny, warm slip of a woman invades his home, his life, his soul, and he finds himself unable to forget her, even when she seems to have utterly forgotten him.
Highland Reckoning is book 2 in the Of Mist and Mountains series. Although it is book two it can be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading the first book in the series Highland Hope. Many of the characters are featured in both books. I loved this medieval second chance romance. Brus and Sebille’s love story is breathtaking. Here’s one of my favorite quotes: “My mind only recalls bits and pieces of ye,” she said, the words ragged with her racing heart, “but my body…My body knows ye as if yer hand is my hand. Yer desires my desires. Yer pleasure my pleasure. Yer heartbeat my verra own. It feels as if ye left an imprint on my soul.” “Aye,” he said, his gaze turning like a storm as he leaned down and brought his face close to hers. “I did.” Bravo! This is a magnificently written story. I can highly recommend this series.
