Honor’s Splendor by Julie Garwood is one of my very favorite historical romances. Lady Madelyne is a very relatable and likable character. She lives a life filled with the abuses by her wicked brother Baron Louddon. When her brother captures a handsome enemy – Baron Duncan of Wexton – the Wolf, Madelyne must choose where her loyalty lies. This is one of those must read books. “Madelyne stared into his eyes and thought that they were as gray and as cold as one of her daggers. His face seemed cut from stone, for there was no emotion to be seen there, no feeling at all. His hair was a dark brown, overly long and slightly curly, but that didn’t soften his features. His mouth looked hard, his chin was too firm, and she noticed that there weren’t any lines at the corners of his eyes. He didn’t look like the kind of man who laughed or smiled. No, she acknowledged with a shiver of apprehension. He looked as hard and as cold as his position demanded. He was a warrior first and a baron second.” I absolutely loved this romance. This is a tale with complexities that I wasn’t expecting. I highly recommend it.
