Revenge and happily ever after never mix. Well, not usually…
Captain Oliver Whitehouse didn’t suffer any romantic delusions. He had a ship to pay for and revenge to exact for his grandfather’s murder. Rescuing a damsel in distress was not part of his plan. Good thing he was never one to follow plans…
Blaike Culpepper craved excitement. At least she used to until her impetuousness nearly ruined her. Shadowed by scandal, the last man she should fall for is the swashbuckling scoundrel who saved her and refuses to woo her. But unfortunately, that’s exactly what she does… Is a shot at true love worth the potential cost? Or are Oliver and Blaike destined to remain two ships that pass in the night forever?

The Buccaneer and the Bluestocking is the fourth book in the Misses Culpeppers Series by Collette Cameron. Blaike Culpepper and her twin Blaire have spent several months in France attending a ladies academy called Les Dames de l’Academie. But once there, they realize that the head mistress Madame Beaulieu is a deceiver. This is the story of how the young ladies escape to the safety of England and of how Blaike finds true love on that journey.
I enjoyed this book in the series. I especially enjoyed the salty character of the cockatoo named M’Lady Lottie. The cockatoo was raised in a brothel and her vocabulary is highly offensive and funny. Cameron always adds some wonderful quirky comedy in her stories. I highly recommend these books, and that they be read in order for continuity. I was given a copy of this book.
