To Dance in the Glen is book one in The Glen Highland Romance series by Michelle Deerwester-Dalrymple. I enjoyed this book. I felt a bit frustrated by the number of editing errors. But the story is very well written and Ms. Deerwester-Dalrymple is spot on with her history. I thought the character of Meggie Lachlan was very likable and believable. Born a poor crofter’s daughter, Meg doesn’t see the possibility of marriage to the Laird Ewan MacLeod of her Clan. But when he rescues her from a band of English brigands, she finds herself falling in love with him. “Ye have duties, milord. Duties that are far more important than a mere maid who occupies a space well above her station in her Laird’s home. ‘Tis time for me to go home and accept my place.” “Accept your place? By God, Meg, this is your place! I will no’ let ye leave. This is your new home and your new place is here with me!” Then, before she could breathe, he swept her towards him, crushing her against his large frame, kissing her raggedly. He clung to her so that she could not push herself away. His mouth possessed hers repeatedly, hungry for her. She felt the hardness of his body, his strength, and his power, that power she had only seen before, and she could not think, could not move, could not breathe.” There are quite a few steamy scenes. There is also a second love story included in this tale. I wish there had been a wider look at the Clan and at Meg’s struggle to adapt. But overall, a very good story and I am looking forward to reading more in this series.
